Q： If my graes are low, will I get extra support from IES to get to the University of Queenslan?

A：Yes! IES Stuent Services can arrange extra support for you. In aition to the acaemic support alreay provie to the stuents by their classroom teacher, the IES Tutors can provie extra tuition sessions in any subject at no extra cost. English language support can be provie by the iniviual teacher or teachers. Aitionally, IES Mates provie extra conversational English an mentoring sessions to help stuents with low graes gain English language confience an improve their chances to get into the University of Queenslan.

For more than 20 years, IES has elivere more than 8000 stuents to the unergrauate programs of UQ. Stuents who are successfully enrolle in IES will get a provisional offer from UQ. After the founation year is over, if stuents’ graes meet the entry requirements of UQ’s unergrauate programs, UQ will give them an unconitional offer. Stuents will be able to further stuy at the University of Queenslan. Quotas apply.

We offer English Pathway Program-EPP programs for stuents who nee extra help with their acaemic English. 10-week (IELTS 4.5 with no sub-ban less than 4.5) an 20- week (IELTS 4.0 with no sub-ban less than 4) versions are available epening on your current English level. Upon successful completion of the program, you are guarantee entry into the IES Founation Year Extene program without neeing to re-sit an IELTS exam. Pre-Founation Year English ( PFYE ) is another program also available to stuents with lower IELTS scores. Stuents can stuy PFYE before their EPP programs, an continue their Founation Year stuy after finishing EPP.

A：IES provies a series of support for stuents uner 18. The stuent service centre support all stuents to ensure they cope with stuy an life well. All stuents uner 18 must be picke up from the airport by IES an live in the homestay or stuent apartments IES has approve of. Curfew hours will be 10 PM every ay (same uring the holiay). If you nee to apply for leave, make sure to apply for Uner 18 Holiay Leave request to IES Accommoation Office in B301. Stuents who finish IES Founation Year program before they turn 18 will continue getting guarian support when they go off to the University of Queenslan.

Q：What is a typical ay/week like fora FY stuent? When oes class normally finish?

A：The class normally starts at 9:00am an some classes will finish no later than 5:45pm. Plenty of time for a lunch break an a short stroll own to the city for a change of scene. Each stuent will have their iniviual timetable. It epens on your subject selection. IES organises various social an acaemic events both on an off campus throughout the semester, make sure to check out myFY an our social meia platform for more etails.

Q：Does my attenance affect my graes? What if I’m sick? 出勤率会影响我的成绩吗？想请病假怎么办？

A：If you have misse the entire class, you will be marke as absent. If you are more than 10 minutes late, you will be marke as late, an it is also consiere as absent.

If your attenance falls below 85%, you will also receive attenance warning messages from IES Stuent Services staff. If your attenance rop below 70%, you are at risk of being reporte to the Department of Home Affairs (DHA). Stuent Services Staff contact low attenance stuents every week an if you are worrie about your attenance, make sure to approach them.

If you are sick, it is recommene that you seek meical attention when possible. Your octor or practitioner will provie you with a meical certificate. Please submit your MC to IES reception upon your return. MC oes not necessarily change your attenance, but IES Stuent Services staff will take this into consieration when reviewing your attenance recor. If you have to return home for compelling reasons, please speak to one of the IES Stuent Services staff immeiately an request Personal Leave of Absence.

Q：Where can I change my subjects? 在哪里可以更改我选择的科目？

A：Everyone can access the Subject Change function on IES intranet platform myFY , prior to the commencement of their IES program. You shoul have receive the relevant information from our Enrolments Office, alternatively, check with your eucation agent. The subject change function will be close a few weeks prior to Orientation week. However, it will be re-open for your final chance to make a subject change request on myFY. Make sure to listen carefully uring the Timetable session at Orientation an look out for instructions.

A: Stuents on't choose their major while at IES. They o so after they start at UQ. Their major really epens on the courses they take. For example, a Bachelor of Arts stuents, if majority of their courses are to o with Drama, or History, or whatever they choose, an as long as they have receive enough creit uring the egree uration, they will finish Bachelor of Arts with a Major in Drama, History or whatever they stuy the most. You can talk to our stuent counsellors about any personal issues or acaemic questions you might have. There will be free iscussion sessions throughout your stuy, covering topics like bugeting, writing a goo CV, learning skills an test preparation. Our stuent counsellors also provie suggestions that help stuents choose their university major an future careers.
